Happy New Year 2018

I'm taking a little break from the blog post catch-up to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! I haven't even gotten half way through reviewing our 2017, but I can summarize it pretty well.

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair..."

Charles Dickens is so much better with words than I, but that first part rings through my head often. We had the utter joy of a new baby and the heartbreaking struggle with seizures and lack of sleep. We said goodbye to teachers we loved dearly, and hello to new ones. We bursted with pride, and cried with worry. We came to terms with extended family drama and realized life is too short to keep waiting for people to grow up (and snap out of denial). We watched the leadership of this country in a tailspin. We were patient and not so much...we made good decisions and poor ones. We held on to the eternal hope that keeps us going. We held on tight to our babies. We took care of each other. We loved one another.
